21 Tandem Repeats: News

The Latest News - October 16, 2007

Super Robertson got into Koko this past weekend and heard some of the latest recordings. lets just say he wasn't mumbling about buzzing guitars and lame vocals but was rather abuzz over the sonic brilliance. Sure sure everybody is always excited about the next record right... well not this guy, a proven paranoid lunatic Robertson is always the first to compare his art to a crude act with a reptile.

that said... i think we have some good recordings.

come on down to the supper show and get your Canada Lynx records button

Congratulations to 730 CKDM Music Director Bruce Leperre on his recent CCMA Nomination for Music Director of the Year. Those fine "Lynx Like" ears keep the cream at the top.

Not only that, he will surly be nominated for a "super robertson supper show award of merit".

Have no fear... the "supper show collective" will use the time to bike down to 3rd beach in Stanley Park to swim in the ocean and catch the evening as the sun goes down to the west of vancouver. We hope to arrive at the beach at 6pm.

"On the coast" continues the pro vibe. - August 25, 2007

Indeed, "On the Coast" will be a contender at the 3rd annual Supper Show award ceremony classic next spring to challenge other shows like DNTO, "Broken fences" and they Lynx Ears with Carl Fatman

reviews keep coming - August 22, 2007

Another review for 21tr's sophomore effort "Never Wanted to be Anyone" came in the other day from Dan from Two way monologues <http://www.twowaymonologues.com/review.php?reviewId=938> .

Hopefully the music continues to get "out there" whatever the hell that means.

OK Alright - August 6, 2007

OK,

so we will release the song "Summertime will end when it's over" on Wednesday August 8 2007. You can get it here on this website.

In other news it appears that ace bass man "Snow Leopard" had a birthday last weekend so it appears it's time for some cake at the supper show.

So Cake on Wednesday August 8th @ the Railway @ 7:30PM.

The sounds of summer - July 10, 2007

21 tandem Repeats are set to release a single for the summer of 2007.. stay tuned. Also there will be free ice cream cones at the supper show on July 11 2007.

Any other news would hail in comparison.

21 Tandem Repeats gets a show outside the confines of the Supper Show stage - July 4, 2007

Don't get us wrong... we love the Railway Club and the Super Robertson Supper Show but it is always nice to be offered a chance to play a different venue.

I would say a good bet is to go down to the Main on Saturday July 21st at around 9-10pm and order the rack of lamb... by the time you have put a dint in your plate some music will be served.

who? why 21TR and a surprise guest.

got to go the babies are crying.

More Robertson's - June 17, 2007

Band Kingpin S Robertson was blessed with 2 twin girls last week. perhaps this is all part of the master plan... are they a rhythm section or a defensive paring... is it music or Hockey coaching?

Ah yes the plot thickens.

The band, led by the stalwart Willingdon Black, put on a clinic at the Supper Show last week playing some 21TR classics and a few Rolling Stones tunes.

Otherwise not much new has happened. The CBC keeps playing "Never wanted to be anyone" with the show "On the Coast" plugging the first track last week.

21 Tandem Repeats goes back to work - May 20, 2007

It's a rainy sunday and 21 tandem repeats are set to spend the day back in KOKO recording studio to get some work done on their upcoming release. This release will see the full band playing, as Bass player Alvaro Rojas joined after "Never Wanted to be Anyone" was in the can, playing on only a few tracks. Defiantly some exciting times for the band!

Michelle Pollard gets more than what she bargained for - April 25, 2007

Michelle Pollard won the opportunity to make out with one of the fine mustache men at the supper Show Awards Ceremony. She screamed with delight and literally had to be pulled away from Kingpin Super Robertson's fine Stash. "Yea her tongue was all over it" quipped a smiling Robertson after the show. It was an easy call, she is a stylish woman and therefore it just seems right to be all over a stash.

Later on she was seen eyeballing "Kevin", the mustache of stash champion Cory Curtis... she was kind of melting in her chair noticed sleuth Reporter Oalk Reece.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS AND THE SUPER ROBERTSON SUPPER SHOW - April 9, 2007

It should be noted at this time the Super Robertson Supper Show will run into conflict with the Vancouver Canucks playoff hockey in which event Hockey will take president, as it should.

Therefore if it's Wednesday and there is a Vancouver playoff game that will be happening between the hours of 7:30-8:30pm then the Railway Club will be showing the game on the big screen.

There has been talk of some intermission music but we are not sure of this at this time. It could be possible to make sets and then monitor how the Canucks played in the period after that set to see if those songs provided the proper "Omen factors" in an attempt to build a bulletproof set for game 7... but you know sports fans and their looney ideas.

It should be noted that the 2nd anniversary Supper Show will be held on Wednesday April 18th and there is no game scheduled so come on down and get your award. I'll post last year's pictures in the gallery.

21TR needs News - March 5, 2007

This website has been sitting without being updated for too long... there was that fiasco with that review a while back where the gibberish written by a certain guitar player in 21 tandem repeats for the website appeared in quotations in a paper.

but we don't need to worry about that little known event... indeed like water off a duck's back it was.

Where were we... Oh yes the Super Robertson Supper Show theme song is coming along quite nicely. it is of course the intro/outgo song to the Super Robertson supper show that happens every wednesday from 7:30- 8:30 at the railway club in Vancouver B.C. (no cover... FREE... kitchen is open).

Not only that But 21 tandem Repeats has been getting some national radio play on the super duper CBC radio. All the shows keep playing different songs however so defining one as a hit can be a foolish fallacy in more than one way.

Well, i have to go to sleep now, because i am a failure and i know it.

21 TR and Manitoba - February 18, 2007

it appears the 21 Tandem repeats song "Wishing Machine" will be played on a show called "No Fences" on Sunday, February 18, 2007 <http://www.730ckdm.com>
A Quick review was given to 21TR's latest CD here <http://www.whatsonwinnipeg.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16567>

Hello - February 11, 2007

The latest 21 Tandem repeats news saw Kingpin S Robertson at the Music B.C SCHMUSIC PARTY.

I would have to say that the boys from 24 Hour Beer Patrol certainly brightened the evening. Robertson met many people and generally had a good time, he even met a nice person who offered to volunteer to help Canada Lynx Records in its quest to meet it's mission statement. It was kind of like a reminder that there is a community of people out there, and they are good people, who maybe just need to find a way to work together to make for a better community.

Robertson wrote that and then went to wash his hands...

Links of progress - February 3, 2007

21 Tandem Repeats has appeared on a few college radio charts like this one here <http://www.earshot-online.com/charts/ckxu.cfm >. Even the University of Western Ontario (Robertson's old stomping grounds) has taken the time to play the new record. Edmonton's Vueweekly added a review here <http://www.vueweekly.com/articles/default.aspx?i=5700>
All of this exposure is clearly the result of A1 publicist King Ken Killbeat, and if Robertson could sing the sky could be the limit.

The CBC playlists are here <http://www.cbc.ca/radioshows/ON_THE_COAST/20070124.shtml> and here <http://www.cbc.ca/radioshows/DEFINITELY_NOT_THE_OPERA/20070127.shtml>

21 Tandem Repeats gets a news story - January 29, 2007

The song Jupiter was played last week on CBC's DNTO, a fine victory for a guy with a bloody face and a broken nose. Robertson had to punch himself out for the shameless Canadian political plug in the last news story.

It appears that the wizard Ken Killbeat has proven himself as a master publicist as 21 tandem Repeats was also heard last week on CBC's On the Coast.

Let's keep stomping!

21 tandem Repeats needs a new news story - January 16, 2007

Is not the point of a band website to relay the news of the band?

What is the News? Nothing ever changes... we rehearse every Monday night and play live every Wednesday night? we have released a new CD titled "Never Wanted to be Anyone" and have hired Canada's best independent publicist Ken Killbeat to Mail it out to all the people who should have it in Canada. Now we are waiting for News, or should we create News? That was my old policy when i first was running the original Roadbed website... i would make up elaborate news stories and we tried to play our way up the ladder but ended up taking a wrong turn somewhere around 110 Mile house and the ladder then resembled an elevator shaft. That was a Joke... it was a reference to an old Bugs bunny saying but substituting a Canadian town.

Basically we do what we do and would like to do more of it but the problem seems to be in the word "traction"... we have none. i recall a few fine conversations in a bar with a seasoned expert who went on at length about the idea of traction calling it the hardest thing in the world to get... like simple Physics, where you would probably call it momentum.

So the news is... 21 Tandem Repeats seeks traction.

i do have to say and i find it completely odd that i was giddy today after hearing about Liberal leader Stéphane Dion's press release today. I can't believe i am hearing a Canadian politician make sense... this guy could be our saviour... did i just say that... don't worry i just gave myself a punch in the face as a warning.

But listen to this

"The trick in getting rich on climate change, he said, is to be a leader in reducing greenhouse gas output and creating technologies for doing so.

There are huge opportunities for countries that grasp the opportunity, he said. "Their populations will have both higher incomes and a higher quality of life. I want Canada to be one of those countries."

then citing
""When the B.C. forest industry had to spend billions of dollars on pulp scrubbers, why do you think they imported all that equipment from Scandinavia? Largely because Scandinavia's tougher environmental standards had induced Scandinavian companies to invest much more than their Canadian counterparts in eco-friendly technology."

He said that nuclear power is part of Canada's energy mix but he doesn't favour an expansion.

"As long as I've not received a convincing strategy for the waste, as long as I am not able to look Canadians in the eye and say I'm comfortable with the waste, I will not recommend it.

"But, you know, it's an unavoidable debate in Canada. It's coming in Europe. Some countries that ruled out nuclear are considering it now, especially because of climate change, by the way."

Go Go GO!

This is important stuff... if we could have Leader who spoke in true facts, with an honest awareness of the future... i know he is a politician but he seems to want to make his mark in the same way that i thought i would when i had my dream sequence of becoming Prime Minister. Admit we are insane and demand change rather than acting as a puppet for the economy. Money making is a savage urge and it will survive and adapt to new rules... a politician need not protect flawed systems.

Oh yea this is a band website.... listen to 21 Tandem Repeats and make us the most popular band in the world and i will show up in designer shades and... actually maybe i better not.

21 Tandem Repeats wishes you a happy New Year - January 1, 2007

Well those who missed being around 21 Tandem Repeats last night missed their Nappy noogie Year "noogie". As a matter of principle Robertson feels it proper to bless all souls with a New year Noogie.

Usually you begin singing the "happy noogie Year song", and doing the happy noogie year dance that by the time the climax comes the recipient of the noogie is clearly perplexed and easy prey to be pounced on and given a proper noogie.

That said, the S. Robertson New Years classic was a fine bash with CT's hot crab dip winning that tasty award of merit.

And to all of you, let me wish you the best for 2007... free noogies at the Super Robertson Supper show this Wednesday January 3.... Noogies will be given out on a request basis.

Tom Harrison tar's and feathers S Robertson - December 25, 2006

In case you missed getting your copy of the Province newspaper on Tuesday December 19th, it should be noted that, 21 tandem repeats new CD "Never wanted to be Anyone" was savaged by local rock critic Tom Harrison. Robertson took the brunt of the beating being labeled the weakest link in the band, who can't sing or write for shit...

Robertson, who strangely has been musing on some of the same thoughts sees this as a good sign.

"A fine Omen, the first test, we will not run away, I accept" he said before he was cut off.

21 tandem repeats stomps down 15 more bed tracks. - December 5, 2006

You would think that a band about to release a new CD might spend some time promoting their up coming show at the Western Front on December 16 2006, but 21 tandem repeats plays to a different tune.

The band found itself in KOKO Studios in Vancouver this weekend with engineer Kevin (Smith), and laid down 15 new bed tracks. At times it looked like the Liberal leadership convention as side deals and surprise floor caucus meetings made for strange turns of events. Ace Guitarist Willingdon Black was jockeying for position on the song "Melanoma" and Robertson kept him at bay with a trusty can of Postal issue mace. Apparently Black is suggesting a more Canadian tone to move the song in a more "Manitoba" feel, hoping that a certain C.E.O of Canada Lynx Records, might recognize a good idea.

Hobbs for his part was deleting SR approved takes and coming up wit all kinds of "computer problems" when Robertson felt his Producer's creative juices flowing. Boxed to the outside Robertson had no choice to act friendly while positioning his heel for a throat stomp.

Rojas, on bass, led the band into a new feel for "Ode to Hummingbirds", which begat a new song titled "The problem with Ode to Hummingbirds", in which he attacks the theory in question with a little bone physics. Friction and aerodynamics... the force has to calculate, it never works if it never works.

Apparently Shockk, who has a new Interior Design release ready to go has a Guitar for a giveaway at the Show on the 16th (Western front).

Canada Lynx and the Red Cat - November 19, 2006

Red Cat Records( 4307 Main St. Vancouver, BC. (604) 708-9422), has some tickets to the 21 Tandem Repeats CD release party for sale in their store. You can also get the CD "Never wanted to be anyone" from the shelves by the official release date on December 6 2006.

Remember that Canada lynx records artist Interior Design will be setting the mood for the show at the Western front on December 16th.
The other band, "Dyad", approach traditional Appalachian music with confidence and taste that has had music critics praising and listeners engaged. "The trio delivers their music straight up with few concessions to modern taste"(John Endo Greenaway, The Bulletin).

soldiers marching - November 5, 2006

21 tandem repeats is preparing for the second half of the fall series of supper show's for 2006. Robertson who refers to the fall/ winter sessions as the greatest... "Something about the streets being dark outside gives the show some more intimacy" he believes.
Perhaps this fall has a special ring to it as the band is preparing a CD release party night on December 16 2006 at the western front (303 east 8th ave), and are saying very little about it.
Recall that Robertson has handed exams to the audience on previous CD release party show's with his band Roadbed.
"We will have to come up big that night and the best preparation is another month of Super Robertson Supper Shows" said Robertson.

Ace guitarist Willingdon Black is more concerned with getting his solo vocals at the end of the song Failure up to speed. "It's a delicate line, and one would not want to broach it in the incorrect manor" read a note left at Canada Lynx Records that was allegedly penned by Willingdon Black.

Mystery guest for the CD Release party - October 30, 2006

S. Robertson is announcing that there will be a mystery guest for the December 16, 2006 CD release party at the Western Front.

Robertson would not comment further, he rubbed his beard and eyed this reporter cautiously.

"Of course there will be an opening act! What do i look like some rookie jackass!" he said much later.

October 5th show a blast... what is the future? - October 7, 2006

Thanks to all who came out on October 5th to catch Supersimian, The Family Stump, A ghost to kill again and 21 tandem repeats. It was a bit odd playing late at night after doing the Supper show for so long (20 months).

We have found a publicist to help release our cd "Never wanted to be anyone"... the word is that it will be available @ the Supper show on December 6, and the release party will be on December 16th, at a venue that has been decided upon but not yet officially booked.
