21 Tandem Repeats: News

21 tandem Repeats site refreshment - April 12, 2010

well the news is that The Super Robertson Supper show is still going (every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30PM @ the Railway Club) and there are some other shows on the horizon (see calendar dates).

as you can probably hear (if you have your sound on or there is not some terrible computer glitch that i could not even begin to understand) we have a FLASH MUSIC PLAYER on the site... this should allow you to graze the useful information in this site and have your ears blessed with the heavenly sounds of 21 tandem Repeats... I now have a twitter account that is linked to the home page of this site and some of the other bothersome sites (in terms of keeping current) and i will make an effort to post all urgent upcoming events there... which is kind of the news when you think about it... which may in fact give this section some new life...  time will tell.

looking to play in Toronto in early July... anybody have any ideas?

Oh and i still haven't released that damn live album i was barking about some time ago... i have been waffling like a machine in an eggo factory over the merits of this idea.  That's the way life goes as an artist trying to create for some reason and judging worth at the same time.  Not recommended activities when put together on any given moment in time.

21 Tandem repeats Live - November 13, 2009

21TR Kingpin Super Robertson has paired down the last 4 years of live recordings into 20 tracks. Expecting to lose another 8 or so Robertson has contacted Music demigod Mule Hughes to help with the pruning.

some of the latest 21 TR songs - July 14, 2009

Twent One Tandem Repeats Tuesday Night Tour is ready to roll - July 5, 2009

Ok, it's been a good summer for the fine folks at Canada Lynx Records... the 21 TR live @ the Supper Show album is moving along quite nicely, the toronto tour is set and some new recordings with Genny Trigo have hit the tape.

wait a minute... wasn't the title of this news story about the shops coming up in Toronto? Yes Yes Yes... we are always losing our focus around here.

The first show on tuesday July 28 is with my original musical mentor Mr. Dave Hind, i Know it will be a big night for me... Dave doesn't perform that often so i would look at it as a real opportunity. He wrote the song "Jupiter" that was on our CD "Never wanted to be anyone"

The second show on Tuesday August 4th is opening for Great Aunt Ida. I knew Ida when she lived in Vancouver, she was always involved in many ways in the good fabric of the music scene, and on top of that she is one KING HELL songwriter and musician and singer. Her CD's get a lot of play in our house and i have some pretty discerning children when it comes to music.

OK, it's going to be fun.

21 Tandem Repeats 4th record is under construction - May 22, 2009

Legendary Vancouver Drummers Mule Hughes and Shawn Killaly have come by the lynx paw studio to lay down some tracks for the upcoming 21 tandem repeats release. Tentatively titled "I don't know how that got posted on the Internet" the most obvious change will be in the Vocal department as Super Robertson fired himself from that position.

No Junk Mail please makes it into Shared Vision - January 11, 2009

21 tandem repeats latest CD got the nod in Vancouver based magazine Shared Vision <http://www.shared-vision.com/20081226/editors-picks>.

The magazine who's motto is "a dialogue for change" seemed to really like the concept of the release.

In other news work is ongoing on the new song front, and the supper show goes on with this weeks guest being Simian Special.

Good times were had by all when 21 tandem repeats hit the road last weekend taking their unique brand of music to the quiet enclaves of the pacific northwest coast.

Did i mention the pork shank that they make at the Dancing Bean cafe in Chemainus... it is worth the trip.

A CONTEST!

The website QBIM is doing the right thing and giving away their copy of "No Junk Mail Please" now that it has been firmly embedded in their digital music library.

go get yours... i wonder if it comes with 1 sticker?

and a lick of good press.

"You know what else won’t disappoint you? 21 Tandem Repeats from Vancouver, BC, who’ll be releasing their third full length, No Junk Mail Please in a couple of weeks. The band (Super Robertson, Alec Macaulay, Chris Hobbs, and Alvaro Rojas) don’t so much as make music as grow it on an organic sound farm somewhere deep in the damp heart of BC, harvesting it when the melodies are sweetest, and the musicianship is ripest. "

Chartattack - October 31, 2008

21 tandem repeats get's the nod from Canadian magazine Chartattack <http://www.chartattack.com/news/62236/21-tandem-repeats-avoid-junk-mail>. The question now becomes will the Junk mail issue doom the music?

Band Kingpin S. Robertson doesn't give a damn. "If we were going to call it Mr. Greenie and do nothing Green then we would be a load of wagon jumping fuckers" barked Robertson, who was busy listening to a hockey game that was in the 9th round of a shoot out at the time... after the Canucks won in the 13th round Robertson expanded "sure it sounds like a gimmick but it works... life is made better by doing small things, but doing them right".

costal tour - October 28, 2008

21 Tandem Repeats are set to head out for a 4 day jaunt in support of their new release titled "No Junk Mail Please". The band will start on Thursday November 20 at the Railway club in Vancouver B.C and end up in Victoria after stops in Chemainus and Nanaimo. You can visit the calender section of this website for the details of the shows.

In other news 21TR frontman S Robertson was interviewed on cbc r3 Monday on the topic of patience. Word has gotten out that Robertson spends his days at home with two toddler twin girls and an opinionated 4 year old girl.

what is going on - October 7, 2008

Well i guess you heard about our show at the Railway on November 20 in support of our new CD title No Junk Mail Please. I have been trying to secure other shows and it looks like we will be going to Vancouver Island for a show at the Cambie in Nanaimo on the 22 and perhaps something in the Courtney Cumberland region on the 21st of November although that has yet to be set.

It is always difficult to secure shows when people don't know who you are and you have no "official fans" in in that town. There has got to be a few cliches for that... something like you have got to make it happen.

Indeed. so i thought about this resource, our website... one of the things you can do is ask and you never know what might happen.

Do you want to see 21 tandem Repeats in your town? Chances are good we want to come but just can't seem to figure out how to secure it. Please do contact us if you think something might work.

Also, you will be happy to know that my fingernail is OK.

Super Robertson breaks Fingernail - September 13, 2008

In what is being described as a gardening accident, 21 tandem repeats kingpin S. Robertson broke the nail on his right pinkie finger.

Apparently Robertson was aggressivly swiping at a wasp that was showing signs of having "sting fever" when his pinkie finger collided with a wooden fence post.

The Canada Lynx Records camp has been downplaying the injury and Robertson should be ready to go for the Super Robertson Supper show next week on September 17.

CD release show on November 20 2008 - September 10, 2008

At the Railway club in Vancouver 21 tandem repeats will kick off a small tour with a show on November 20...
details to come.

No Junk Mail Please - July 21, 2008

Fan's of 21 Tandem Repeats and the Super Robertson Supper show were stunned when the band arrived to their weekly gig on July 16 with a stack of their new CD's titled "No Junk Mail Please".

"It is finally here!" exclaimed Jim Sundin, and then... "what the hell i thought it was going to be called Mr. Greenie".

I guess it is a green idea... "the red cat campaign" one could say.

The Album is done! - February 25, 2008

On Monday February 25th JLS Mastering left the home of 21TR Kingpin S. Robertson with a disk to be mastered thus ending the speculation on what the new 21 Tandem Repeats album will be.

As noted earlier it will be titled "Only the paranoid survive", which is pretty much as true of a statement that one could make. try it sometime... perhaps when you are going to bed. i know for me, if i want to get into a serious analysis of a community then i always go to the beehive. You think the Bee's are paranoid? Some may call it that, others may see a line of guards checking all entering the hive as just good security.

January 22, 2008

Wow, long time and no updates... ah the life of a band that has as many young offspring as band members. But wait DON"T MENTION THE KIDS!!! that not rock and roll and according to some web page it is the worst thing you can do for your career. Would that be a big "C" or small "c".

But really folks, things are happening here at the Lynx Headquarters and the latest 21 Tandem Repeats CD will be released shortly... final revisions are complete and most of the last minute hail mary calls are about to be stuffed in under the wire. Don't you just love deadlines. I do, one of the few thing in life that gets the old juices flowing.

Also the Supper Show is going well and we are coming up on our 3rd anniversary. I would write more but i have to go to sleep so i can do it all again tomorrow.

A couple of the new tracks can be heard on the cbc radio 3 site <http://radio3.cbc.ca/>
life is short, art is long and success is very far away.

Breaking News - November 27, 2007

On Wednesday November 28,

There will be no Super Robertson Supper Show... something more private is happening at the Railway Club.

Word has it that next week (December 5) will see "We Dragons" and "Tiger Prawn".

Also now would be a good time to let you know about a big show coming up on Saturday December 29 at the Railway Club featuring Emily Milliken, Genny Trigo, D. Trevlon, 21 tandem Repeats, Simian Special and the Family Stump. Not quite New Years but a fine Saturday (the last one of the year)... just to get the idea out there.

The Latest News - October 16, 2007

Super Robertson got into Koko this past weekend and heard some of the latest recordings. lets just say he wasn't mumbling about buzzing guitars and lame vocals but was rather abuzz over the sonic brilliance. Sure sure everybody is always excited about the next record right... well not this guy, a proven paranoid lunatic Robertson is always the first to compare his art to a crude act with a reptile.

that said... i think we have some good recordings.

come on down to the supper show and get your Canada Lynx records button
